Dudley School introduces ‘Buddy Benches’ made by middle school students

Dudley School recently inaugurated its newly created ‘Buddy Benches’ with the school’s 2nd Grade Student Council and Fairport Board of Education as a way to promote friendship on the playground by including everyone to play, an idea that was initiated by the students in the Student Council

“We wanted to do this so no one would be lonely on the playground – like new kids and just everyone to make new friends!” said Marin Wood and Ava Violanti, students in the school’s Student Council.

In coordination with the Johanna Perrin Middle School and funding by the Dudley PTA group, the initiative also supports the school’s STAR (I am Safe, I Treat others kindly, I Act Responsibly) character education program.

The benches were created by students at Johanna Perrin – made by students for other students.

The 2nd Grade Student Council and the Fairport Board of Education inaugurated the benches by placing their hand prints on the benches to signal their support of the initiative. The benches will be installed this spring on the school's playground.
