World of Inquiry Student Captures Award

Whether teaching fellow students of the rich culture from African countries, creating powerful art about the Southern lynching of black men, or blogging about the murder of 14-year-old Emmett Till and the 2012 fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin, Unique Fair-Smith has been willing to stride into the turbulent waters of racial discussion.

A junior at the City School District's World of Inquiry, Fair-Smith Sunday was awarded the annual Rochester region Princeton Prize in Race Relations in a ceremony at Allendale Columbia School.  The award honors high school students "who are working to increase understanding and mutual respect among all races” and are sponsored by Princeton University.
